The Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MECDHH) offers an active Residential Life program to complement the school's educational programs. This program is available to students of upper-middle school and high school age.
Students are able to stay in the school's dormitory from Sunday evening through Friday morning. They may participate in after school athletics, receive guidance and support with their homework assignments, learn valuable independent living skills through activities planned and implemented by our residential advisors, and just relax and socialize with their friends. Regular off-campus outings are planned by the staff to provide students with access to community events in the greater Portland area.
It is the goal of the Residential Life program to provide a safe and supportive environment in which the students can achieve academically, develop a sense of real-world competence, and have a good deal of fun in the process.
