Teacher: Public School Outreach Consultant
This is a full-time, 190-day school year Public School Outreach Consultant position within the Statewide Educational Services Department of the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MECDHH/GBSD). The person in this position will be responsible for:

Providing ongoing educational consultation and technical assistance to professionals working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in public and private schools throughout southern Maine.

Student Observation Summary reports
*
Participating in periodic, program-sponsored, family activities
*
Providing some itinerant and direct service
*
Communicating regularly with parents and working collaboratively with a team of professionals

Minimum Qualifications:
Eligibility for Maine Teacher of the Deaf certification
Prior teaching experience with children who are deaf or hard of hearing
Knowledge of cochlear implants, hearing assistive technology (HAT) and a variety of communication modalities used by students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to communicate in American Sign Language or a willingness to learn
Masters Degree in Deaf Education preferred.
